OPPORTUNITIES Mississippi Films and Ronick Productions are excited about the co-production of Beneath the Mississippi. Shot on a Cannon XL1S camera, (the same camera that was used in the filming of “28 Days Later”) this film has a unique and rich appearance. While Beneath the Mississippi is a horror film, it is not a “B” level slasher film. It is a story of emotional complexity and ambiguous motives. Director Lonnie Schuyler (“ Melrose Place” and “Models, Inc.”) brings his unique skills to the storytelling. Emphasizing reality at every turn, he has coaxed performances from his actors that make you believe you’re viewing a documentary of the crew breaking apart psychologically. The film has been shot sequentially, with the actors living their roles 24 hours a day. The bug bites and bruises you see are real. The exhaustion and consternation you see in the faces of the actors come not only from their talent but from the intense shoot. The action is electrifying and the dialogue is sparse throughout, making this film readily accessible to non-English speakers, as well as to a mainstream American audience.
